Look at my work!

The Door

My mom had just dropped me off, and I was standing in front of the Pre-k room door for my first day of school, wondering what Pre-k would be like. “Would my teacher like me? Would I have any friends?” My small trembling hands reached for the doorknob and I started twisting it. I slowly opened the door. My eyes got as big as plates, my mouth dropped open, and I looked around the room. “What a wonderful room!”
Screeching children pulled and shoved to be the first one to play with the blocks and dolls. There were cracker crumbs on the floor. Racecars, crayons, and even a stroller were everywhere.”This is my kind of place”, I thought. Suddenly out of the nowhere I saw a woman walking toward me very slowly. She looked kind and sweet and had a smile that was comforting. She put her hand on my arm and announced she was Mrs. Roth, my teacher. It turns out she was very nice. I was still nervous and questions were racing through my head. But for now I had to get adjusted to my new life in Pre-k.
